It took almost 6 years to get a new release for fail2ban, but it's a good one: support for IPv6, faster lookups by searching the fail of logfiles, improved filters, ... the Changelog (https://github.com/fail2ban/fail2ban/blob/0.10/ChangeLog) is pretty big.
I use gitlab for upstream work and miss it when working on Debian packages on alioth.
Still it's easier to say "I don't like this" than fix the problem, I wish the team working on the replacement well (and thanks!)
